Tips for a great fall semester
August 27, 2019
With the fall semester fully underway, we're excited to welcome back all our Palominos, whether you're returning for another semester or attending for the first time. After your well-deserved summer vacation, we have some tips and advice to help you maximize your potential and minimize stress!
Utilize campus resources
There are plenty of campus resources available for you! The S.H.A.R.E. Center offers a wide variety of services like career coaching, counseling services, emergency aid, and Healthy Hub. Veterans Affairs and Disability Support Services provide great resources for students, Student Life offers fun activities to connect with your peers, and tutoring services can make sure you continue to excel in your classes. For students looking to get involved on campus, there are also a variety of student clubs and organizations to join!
Grab a snack or meal
Feel like grabbing a snack between classes? We've got you covered. The bookstore, located in the Student Center, offers a variety of snacks and drinks, as well as official Palo Alto College swag. If you're at the Ozuna Library and Learning Center, you can stop by Café Ozuna to get your Starbucks coffee fix or a treat on-the-go. And of course, for more complete meals, you can visit the Cafeteria in the Student Center for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
Take a break
Don't forget to relax! There are plenty of areas on campus where you can just sit and chill out. Whether it be outside in the Central Courtyard, inside the Student Center, or anywhere in the Ozuna Library, it's important to find time to take a breather every day and give your brain a break!
Stay active
If you don't feel like relaxing, you can also break a sweat by keeping your body physically active at the Aquatic and Athletic Center. Students get in free with their student I.D. and have access to an Olympic-sized swimming pool, the fitness center, and gym. Tennis courts and a fitness trail are also available, and students can take advantage of the international soccer field and the new Palomino Park playground.
Stay connected
At Palo Alto College, there's always something exciting happening! That's why it's important to check your Alamo.edu student email every day to keep in touch with your professors and get the scoop on upcoming events, news, and resources like deadlines and scholarship opportunities. Be sure to sign-up with Alamo Experience, as you can gain credit for attending events around campus.
And don't forget to follow Palo Alto College on social media, where you'll get important information with some fun mixed in. Check us out on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to for your chance to win some cool prizes during the first week of school!
