About the Program
The Drama program offers students a well-balanced base of theatre education and opportunities to perform in, design, build, and run theatrical productions. The Drama program provides an environment where students can develop a passion for the theatre as both an art form and a mechanism for growth, expression, and change. It allows students to become more creative in all aspects of life, appreciate how the theatre arts is applicable to our everyday lives, develop skills in collaboration, communication, and critical thinking, and acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to continue theatre studies at a 4-year university.
What will I learn? You will learn the basics of theatre production, (including acting, designing and building sets, costumes, makeup, props, lighting, and sound, how directors work, and the process of rehearsing and performing a play,) as well as the rich history of Theatre. You will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience acting in, building for, and running theatre performances. |
What can I do with this course of study? You can gain a good foundation to transfer into any University Theatre program that you wish, where further study can lead to a career as a Theatre professional or instructor. You can work in local theatre as an actor or technician. Or you can just develop a life-long passion for live theatre, as well as skills in collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and social responsibility. |
What is special about this program?
